Greetings everyone,
I hope you are having a great summer!
I am really excited to announce that my new book ‘Technology vs Humanity’ is now available for previewing and pre-ordering. Please visit the book’s brand-new website to read the entire first chapter or the new blog, or pre-order it via my publisher’s site (print, ebook and bulk order sales) or for the Amazon Kindle.
You will receive a special discount if you pre-order at this time; additional discounts are also available for for bulk purchases - if you are interested please contact my publisher (Fast Future Publishing) directly via email
It’s been a mind-boggling 2 year-experience to write this book, and I am very happy about how it turned out. Technology vs (and/with) Humanity is quickly becoming the #1 topic for the foreseeable future (see the links below), and it is already a strong focus of all of my work including my speaking and advisory engagements.
The official release date for the print edition is September 8, 2016, and we’ll have a big bash in London that evening - stay tuned for an update via this newsletter or on my Twitter stream or my official Facebook page.
I am also starting to do interviews and op-ed’s for the book and the related topics so if you’re interested please feel free to contact me anytime.
Thanks so much for your time and attention, and for subscribing to my newsletter - it’s really appreciated.
Warm regards from Zürich!
Gerd Leonhard
PS: if you like the preview of book please feel free to give it some social media love by sharing the links, or this newsletter, as widely as possible.

Technology vs Humanity Book by Gerd Leonhard
Technology vs Humanity Book by Gerd Leonhard
About the book:
Here is the official announcement text: “As digital disruption spreads way beyond music and media to embrace the whole economy and society, futurist Gerd Leonhard delivers his most incisive volume yet, targeting the coming clash between Big Tech and the species that used to be known as Sapiens. Wherever you stand on the scale from nostalgic Luddite to goggle-eyed Geek, Technology vs Humanity will wake up your inner human to the thousand unguessed shocks which are about to change life on planet Earth forever. From robots outside to nanobots inside our biological systems, from mass redundancy to digital obesity, the challenges coming will make the entire industrial evolution to date seem tame and harmless. Which side are you on? Time to wake up and decide”.
Some key quotes from my book:
“Our world is entering a period of truly transformative change, and many of us will be surprised by the scale and pace of developments we simply hadn’t anticipated. Tremendous potential lies in these exponential technological advances, yet with these new opportunities also come tremendous new responsibilities. An avalanche of technological changes will reshape the very essence of humanity and touch every aspect of life of our planet”
“I believe we need to step back from an expert debate about what’s possible and how to achieve it, and start with a more fundamental exploration of purpose and meaning, and define what role we want these transformative technologies to play in serving humanity: just because we can, it doesn’t mean we should”
“I argue to place human happiness and wellbeing at the heart of the decision making and governance processes that will shape future investments in scientific and technological research, development and commercialisation – because in the end, technology is not what we seek, but how we seek” (read this IEET interview with me on this topic)
Some early praise for 'Technology versus Humanity':
“Gerd Leonhard is most definitely a member of Team Human. Here’s his convincing and heartfelt call for the reinstatement of people and purpose into the technology program.” - Douglas Rushkoff, Author of ‘Throwing Rocks at the Google Bus’, host of the 'TeamHuman’ podcast
“Gerd Leonhard provides a fascinating look at the impact of exponential technologies and the dilemmas we will face in adapting to—or being adapted by—these. His book really makes you worry—and think.” - Vivek Wadhwa, Academic, Researcher, Writer, and Entrepreneur
